Tuscan Interlude
Florence, Chianti & The Vintage Fiat Road

A boutique Tuscany wine escape through Florence’s Renaissance glow, Chianti’s cypress-lined roads, vintage Fiat charm, cellar-door tastings, local lunches, artisan corners, and optional Super Tuscan indulgence.

Tuscany does not ask to be rushed. It asks to be tasted slowly in a glass of red wine, in the late light on Florence stone, in a narrow road lined with cypress, in the scent of olive groves and old cellars.

This short escape is designed for travellers who want Italy in its most cinematic yet intimate form: Florence as your cultural base, Chianti as your open road, and wine as the language through which the region reveals itself. You move between Renaissance beauty, vineyard landscapes, local tables, boutique tastings, and the playful romance of a vintage Fiat 500 drive.

It is an ideal long-weekend escape, anniversary journey, honeymoon addition, or elegant pause within a larger Italy itinerary. The mood is slow, stylish, and deeply Tuscan crafted for those who want a journey that feels lived, not hurried.

Itinerary

Day 1Florence | Arrival into Renaissance Light

Arrive in Florence and transfer to your boutique base, where the city’s Renaissance spirit begins almost immediately. Florence has a rare kind of beauty measured, golden, and deeply human. Church domes rise above terracotta roofs, piazzas open like stages, and every street seems to hold a small piece of art, craft, or memory.

The evening is intentionally open. Instead of filling the first day with appointments, we let you enter the city gently. Your curator list guides you toward the right first moments: a quiet trattoria, a piazza at dusk, a wine bar tucked into an old lane, or a first glass of Tuscan red as the city softens into evening.

Tonight is about arrival not only into Florence, but into a slower Italian rhythm.

Overnight: Florence
Mood: Renaissance light, boutique arrival, soft Italian evening

Day 2Vintage Fiat 500 Chianti Drive | Scenic Roads & Cellar Doors

Today is pure Tuscany, styled.

After breakfast, meet your vintage Fiat 500 and begin a beautifully curated drive into Chianti. The journey is as important as the destination: winding roads, olive groves, vineyard slopes, stone villages, cypress silhouettes, and that unmistakable Tuscan light that makes every turn feel composed.

The Fiat adds a sense of playful nostalgia small, charming, iconic, and perfectly suited to the romance of the countryside. This is not just a transfer; it is part of the experience.

A winery visit anchors the day, with a guided cellar introduction and tasting that brings Chianti’s land, grapes, and traditions into focus. A light local lunch follows simple, seasonal, and rooted in the region’s flavours.

Return to Florence by late afternoon. In the evening, continue the wine story with a tutored tasting session, pairing selected wines with cheeses, charcuterie, and local bites. It is Italy distilled into its finest elements: landscape, craft, conversation, and taste.

Overnight: Florence
Mood: Vintage romance, vineyard roads, wine and local flavour

Day 3Florence at Leisure | The Luxury of Your Own Curiosity

Today is left open by design.

Florence is a city that should not be over-managed. Its deepest pleasure lies in wandering well: stepping into the Uffizi, visiting artisan workshops, exploring leather ateliers, lingering in gardens, pausing over espresso, or letting a long lunch become the day’s main event.

Your curator list can be shaped around your interests. Art lovers may move through museums and churches. Design seekers may follow craft trails through workshops and boutiques. Food lovers may choose markets, cafés, wine bars, or a guided culinary walk. Those who simply want beauty may walk across the river, climb to a viewpoint, or sit in a piazza long enough for the city to change around them.

We keep space in the itinerary so Florence feels lived-in, not consumed.

Overnight: Florence
Mood: Leisure, art, artisans, personal discovery

Day 4Super Tuscan Country | Optional Upgrade, Departure or Extension

For travellers choosing the four-day edition, today can be elevated with a transported journey into Super Tuscan country an indulgent finale built around deeper cellars, refined tastings, and some of Tuscany’s most expressive wines.

This experience is designed differently from the Fiat day. Instead of playful countryside driving, the tone becomes more polished and wine-led: larger bottles, serious estates, elegant tasting rooms, and conversations around terroir, blending, ageing, and the evolution of modern Tuscan winemaking.

Depending on your flight timing, the day can end with a private transfer onward, or you may extend with an additional night in Florence, Chianti, Bolgheri, or the Tuscan countryside.

You depart with Tuscany’s pace still in your body: vineyard roads, warm stone, long tables, and the quiet confidence of a region that knows beauty is best when savoured.

End of journey / Optional extension available.

FAQ

Is this Tuscany wine tour suitable for first-time visitors to Florence?

Yes. This journey works beautifully for first-time visitors because it combines Florence’s cultural beauty with a relaxed Chianti countryside experience, wine tastings, and enough free time to explore the city at your own pace.

Is the Fiat 500 drive self-drive or chauffeured?

The Fiat 500 experience can be arranged as self-drive or guided, depending on the final structure, group size, comfort level, and availability. For travellers who prefer a more relaxed experience, a chauffeured or guided countryside option can be arranged.

Do I need experience driving in Italy?

If choosing the self-drive Fiat option, you should be comfortable driving small roads and have the required valid driving documents. If you prefer not to drive, we can arrange a transported Chianti experience instead.

What kind of wine experiences are included?

The itinerary includes a Chianti winery visit with tasting, plus a tutored wine tasting in Florence paired with local cheeses, charcuterie, or regional bites. The final estates and tasting formats depend on availability and selected package level.

What is the optional Super Tuscan upgrade?

The Super Tuscan upgrade is a more premium wine day focused on prestigious Tuscan wines, deeper cellar experiences, refined tastings, and transported touring. It is ideal for wine lovers who want a more elevated final day.

Is this trip suitable for couples?

Yes. This is an excellent journey for couples, honeymooners, anniversaries, or romantic long weekends. The mix of Florence, vintage driving, wine, countryside, and boutique dining makes it intimate and memorable.

Is this trip suitable for families?

It can be adapted for families, though the core itinerary is more suited to adults or older children due to the wine focus. For families, we can add cooking, gelato, artisan workshops, countryside picnics, or softer activities

How many nights are recommended?

A 3-night / 4-day structure works well for this itinerary. It can also be shortened into a 3-day escape or extended with additional nights in Florence, Chianti, Siena, San Gimignano, Val d’Orcia, or the Tuscan coast.

Will we have free time in Florence?

Yes. Free time is intentionally included so you can explore Florence according to your interests—art, food, shopping, gardens, museums, architecture, or simply slow wandering.

Can museum visits be added?

Yes. Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, Boboli Gardens, private art walks, artisan trails, and architecture-focused experiences can all be added to the itinerary.

What is the best time to take this trip?

Spring and autumn are especially beautiful for Tuscany, with pleasant weather, softer light, and ideal conditions for countryside drives. Summer is lively but warmer, while winter offers a quieter and more atmospheric Florence.

What should I pack?

Pack smart-casual clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, light layers, and an elegant outfit for dinners or tastings. For countryside drives, comfortable daywear and practical footwear are recommended.

Can this tour be made more luxurious?

Yes. The journey can be upgraded with five-star stays, private wine estates, reserve tastings, Michelin dining, private guides, cooking classes, helicopter transfers, or additional nights in the Tuscan countryside.

Is this itinerary rushed?

No. It is intentionally short but unhurried. The structure balances one active countryside day, one leisure day in Florence, and an optional premium wine extension.
