Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Prague

A driver will be at the airport to greet you and transfer you to your centrally located Prague accommodations. Our representative will then meet with you to answer any questions you have and to get you settled for the rest of your trip.

“The Golden City,” “The City of 100 Spires,” “The Mother of Cities,” Prague has no shortage of nicknames paying homage to its charm and beauty. Prague’s winding cobblestone streets, gorgeous architecture and atmospheric bridges are fabled. Get up early and stroll across the statue-lined Charles Bridge. Soak it from the magnificent Old Town Square with its 600-year old astronomical clock. From exploring history and modern culture on foot, to traveling farther afield to take in the picturesque countryside and fairytale villages, you’ll have an itinerary full of adventure and relaxation. Besides the city’s history, evident on every street, especially in the beautifully preserved former Jewish Quarter, you can delve into the city’s gastronomy. You can literally dive into some of Europe’s best beers by visiting a beer spa, or explore its beloved breweries with walking tours, or enjoy a dinner cruise. Day-trip destinations include scenic castles, the perfect spa town, and Kutna Hora with its “bone church” and gothic cathedral. Prague is a city of history that comes to life for every visitor, no matter their interests.

Day 2 - Your First Full Day in Prague

Prague Private Walking Tour

This three-hour walking tour of the Golden City is the ideal way to get to know the beautiful historic center of Prague. You will walk the Royal Route, originally used for the king’s coronation procession. The walk takes you through the center of Old Town, where you’ll see all of the most famous sights, and also learn about the fascinating history that has made Prague a unique destination throughout the ages. Crossing Charles Bridge, your guide will tell you all the stories of the past as you head up to Lesser Town, where the tour finishes.

Optional

Strahov Library and New World Private Tour

This unique 2.5-hour tour will show you one of the most beautiful libraries in Central Europe. You will love learning more about the cultural history of the Strahov Monastery, which was established in 12th century. You may recognize the library from Hollywood blockbusters such as Casino Royale and From Hell. After exploring the meditative temple through its doorways, you can enjoy a glass of craft beer in the Strahov Brewery. If you are not a fan of beer your tour guide will invite you for a cup of coffee at New World, a little town within Prague Castle, where time seems to stand still. Although it seems impossible, close to the most visited site in the Czech Republic, New World is a place that tourists haven’t fully discovered yet.

Day 3 - Your Second Full Day in Prague

The Highlights of the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland Small Group Tour

Hikers will enjoy this tour out of Prague into the magnificent countryside along the Czech/German border. You’ll see many of the highlights of this beautiful natural reserve known for its stunning rock formations and gorges, and have a great time doing it. Please wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget your camera, as there will be plenty of amazing views to admire! You’ll cover about 10 miles (16 kilometers).

Day 4 - Traveling to Brno by Train

Today, you’ll have a lovely train ride through the Czech countryside from Prague to rapidly gentrifying Brno. As there are a number of trains running throughout the day, you can depart either morning or afternoon for the roughly 2.5 hour trip. We’ll arrange standard class tickets based on the train time of your choice and have a driver transfer you from your accommodation to the Prague train station. We can also arrange first class tickets for an additional fee though in our experience there is little difference, other than slightly wider seats and proximity to the dining car if available, between the two types of carriage.

Don’t listen to the Praguers when they tell you Brno is dull. They probably haven’t been in a while. This provincial city and capital of the South Moravia region has plenty to keep you occupied. A tech boom in the 2000s and onwards has raised salaries and expectations all round and the city center is alive with cool places. The NY Times called Brno an architectural mecca, and you’ll definitely want to reserve tickets to see Villa Tugendhat, a UNESCO-listed functionalist villa built for a wealthy industrialist’s family in the 1920s by renowned architect Mies van der Rohe. Brno is also a great base for trips to the wine hills of Southern Moravia and to the Moravian Karst, where the Punkva Cave is the most popular attraction.

When you reach Brno’s main station you will be met by a driver who will take you to your accommodation in the city center.

Historic Brno Private Walking Tour

Enjoy a truly pleasant sightseeing tour of Brno’s historic center, and its landmarks. You’ll visit the Old Town Hall, and several impressive churches and temples, including the Church of St. James and, perhaps most impressive of all, the Cathedral of Saint’s Peter and Paul, which stands proudly above the city’s rooftops. Along the way, you’ll check out Art Nouveau architecture, and make a wish at a beloved fountain.

Day 5 - Your First Full Day in Brno

Moravian Karst and Punkva Cave Private Tour

Travel deep into the underground wonders of Moravia with a trip into one of the most breathtaking natural wonders of Central Europe – the Moravian Karst, home to over 1100 caves. On this tour, you’ll visit the most popular cave, Punkva. You’ll also head to the bottom of the Macocha Abyss, a massive sinkhole, and cruise down an underground river. On the way back to Brno, you’ll stop at the village of Krtiny, to visit the beautiful Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary.

Day 6 - Traveling to Cesky Krumlov by Private Transfer

This morning your driver will pick you up at your accommodations in Brno and drive you to the idyllic medieval town of Cesky Krumlov, stopping on the way in Telč for about an hour and half for you to visit the UNESCO-listed chocolate-box perfect Renaissance town square. The journey time, including the stop in Telč, is about five and a half hours. The vehicle used for your transfer will be a standard sedan, station wagon or minivan. We can arrange for an upgrade to a more luxurious class of vehicle for an extra fee. Please note that this is not a guided transfer.

UNESCO-listed Cesky Krumlov (pronounced CHES-kee KROOM-lohv) is the second most visited place in the Czech Republic and for good reason. A 2.5 hour drive south of Prague, it is a prime example of Bohemian village life. The town is highlighted by a castle which houses more than 300 rooms and is the second largest in the Czech Republic. The Vltava river flows through the old town, which is a labyrinth of cobblestone alleyways with delightful shops. No matter where you are, all the town’s highlights are no more than five minute walk away. Cesky Krumlov is surrounded by verdant hills, making it an ideal place for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, or even golfing. A canoe or rafting trip on the Vltava should not be missed. It is also a city of culture and art, with seven museums and four galleries as well as medieval, music and theater festivals taking place year round. The castle gardens even have a unique rotating stage. For beer lovers, the city has its own brewery. The local brew is served around town in traditional taverns and restaurants where you can enjoy typical hearty Czech dishes in a unique classic setting.

Your driver will bring you as close as possible to your accommodation in Cesky Krumlov. Please note that the Old Town is car-free between 10 AM and 3 PM. Should you arrive in Cesky Krumlov during this time period, you will either need to walk to your hotel from the drop-off point or take a taxi, which is not included in the price (only taxis are allowed to enter the Old Town). Please note that if you are traveling in vans or bigger vehicles, the car is not allowed to enter the historical center and will park at one of the parking lots close to your accommodation. Our local representative will assist you with getting a taxi or arranging a porter service from the hotel.

Day 7 - Your First Full Day in Cesky Krumlov

Cesky Krumlov Private Walking Tour and Monastery Visit

Cesky Krumlov is a fairytale town and you’ll see the best of it on this walking tour. Your guide will meet you at your accommodation and walk you through the beautiful streets of Old Town with its monasteries, churches and lovely shops. You’ll see the most beautiful buildings and also hidden corners as your guide tells you about the interesting turning points in history that makes the town what it is today.

Day 8 - Traveling to Karlovy Vary by Private Transfer

Today you’re swapping a medieval southern Bohemian town for a glamorous northwest Bohemian spa town. To break the journey up and keep with the Czech highlights theme, you’ll be stopping along the way in Plzen, the birthplace of the original Pilsner-style beer. During the stop, you will visit the Pilsner Urquell brewery and learn how this historical brewery invented and still brews pale lager. After some time in Plzen, it’s back on the road to continue the journey to Karlovy Vary. The whole journey, with stops, should take about 8 hours. The vehicle used for your transfer will be a standard sedan, station wagon, or minivan. We can arrange for an upgrade to a more luxurious class of vehicle for an extra fee.

Karlovy Vary is not just the most famous spa town in the Czech Republic, it’s also a beautiful place with its own atmosphere. Whether you’re coming to enjoy the spas and luxury hotels, or just to have a look around, Karlovy Vary’s special atmosphere shines through. The most interesting parts of the town are centered around a gorgeous promenade lined with fountains offering the town’s famous different mineral waters, drunk from special porcelain cups on sale nearby. The city has more to offer than medicinal water, as it’s also home to Moser, the famous glassmaker, and the beloved Becherovka herbal liquor. Karlovy Vary is also famous in the film industry, as it hosts one of Europe’s largest and oldest film festivals, which still attracts Hollywood’s big names.

On arriving to Karlovy Vary your driver will take you to your centrally located accommodation.

Karlovy Vary Private Walking Tour

There’s more to Karlovy Vary than spas and spring water, and there’s no better way to learn about the history and culture of this unique destination than on this two-hour tour with an expert local guide. During the tour, you will see the most important monuments, colonnades, springs, and historical buildings in Karlovy Vary.

Day 9 - Traveling to Prague by Private Transfer

Karlovy Vary’s Signature Products

Karlovy Vary is known for two very distinctive traditional Czech products. At the bus station end of the main shopping street you’ll find the Becherovka Museum. This bittersweet herbal liqueur is made from a secret and well-guarded recipe. Have fun guessing the ingredients! No visit to the Czech Republic would be complete without visiting a glassworks, and there truly is none finer than Moser. Tours of the factory run every half hour from 9 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Saturday. The glassworks and museum is a 10-minute taxi ride from the center of Karlovy Vary.

You’re headed to the Czech capital today. Door to door the journey is about 2 hours but you could opt for a stop at a classic Czech castle, Krivoklat, or a visit to the Koneprusy Caves in the Bohemian Karst. Your driver will meet you at your accommodation in Karlovy Vary at the time of your choice to take you to Prague. The vehicle used for your transfer will be a standard sedan, station wagon or minivan. We can arrange for an upgrade to a more luxurious class of vehicle for an extra fee.
