Day 2 : : Amman – Jerash – Ajloun – Amman City Tour

Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel in Amman.  We will then visit the ancient ‘Gerasa’. In Roman times, this was one of the ten wealthy, self-governing cities of the Decapolis, and was famous throughout the Roman Empire for the luxury of its lifestyle. Buried for centuries under blown sand, Jerash is the only city of the Decapolis to have survived to any extent, with an outstanding forum, colonnaded main streets with the drains still intact, two theatres and a most impressive temple of Zeus. This trail begins at the Reserve’s Visitor Center; you will hike through thick, healthy woodlands filled with Oak,
Pistachio, and oriental Strawberry trees. Take a short detour to view a ruined wine press before you pass one of the oldest Strawberry trees in the Reserve on your way down into the valley.
The trail climbs 1000m above sea level at Eagle’s View Point descending to Rasoun village, and then you will be transferred to visit the Soap House at the Royal Academy for Nature Conservation where the local women of Ajloun follow the traditional process of making Orjan pure Olive Oil soap.  Get the chance to discover the special atmosphere of this city that alternates between modernity and tradition.
It is also known as the “white city” in reference to the stones used in the construction of buildings. The city with multiple hills has always been inhabited and we find everywhere in the city traces of ancient civilizations. We invite you to visit the Citadel and its Temple of Hercules, Roman theater, Archaeological & Folkloric museums.  Overnight & Dinner at your hotel in Amman.

Day 3 : Amman – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Wadi Mujib – Dana Natural Reserve

After breakfast, transfer to Madaba, “the City of Mosaics.” The city, best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, is home to the famous 6th century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Proceed to historic Mount Nebo, one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan and the place where Moses was buried. A small Byzantine church was built there by early Christians.  The trail starts at the Visitor Center near the Mujib Bridge, where you will take the cantilevered walkway over
the dam and follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, the gorge may contain pools deep enough for swimming. This is an ideal walk to take slowly and enjoy the cool water and shade, especially in the heat of the summer.  Overnight & Dinner at your hotel in the Dana.

Day 4 : : Dana Natural Reserve – Kerak – Petra

Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel in Dana.  This circular trail starts from the campsite and ascends to the top to Rummana Mountain, where the views of Wadi Araba are breathtaking. Highlights on the trail include magnificent sandstone and limestone formations, birds of prey, and beautiful views of the nature reserve. Afterwards, we will head towards Kerak, former cross-fortress still surrounded by the fortifications of the old city, Kerak, rises to 900 meters above sea level. Today this city of a population of about 170 000 people still presents various restored Ottoman buildings from the 19th century and offers many restaurants, hotels and other services. However, it is without context the castle of Kerak, which dominates Rose Red City of Petra. Enroute, you will visit Crusader Castle in Kerak, which was the capital of the biblical kingdom of Moab. Perched atop a steep hill, Kerak is a predominantly Christian town dominated by the largest and best preserved of the Crusader castles in the region. After 1-hour drive, we will reach Petra. Get the chance to attend Petra by Night Show, which starts at 8.30pm, and finish at 10.00pm every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. (Optional)  Overnight & Dinner at your hotel in Petra

Day 5 : Explore Petra – Little Petra

After breakfast, we will explore the Red Rose Red city “Petra” the world wonder, which is Jordan’s most
valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, turning it into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome. Visit the Treasury, the Roman Theater, the Royal Tombs, the Court, Qaser Al Bint and the Church.  We will explore Little Petra, first you see the big cistern (called Bier El Arayes by locals), then the Siq El Bard (cool canyon – because it is mostly shaded) which has most facades cisterns. It is very interesting to see how they crave water channels through the rock to collect rainwater to the bottom of the mountain; this technique is referred to as harvesting nowadays.  Overnight & Dinner at your hotel in Petra.

Day 6 : Petra – Wadi Rum
